My Super Ex-Girlfriend
July 25, 2006 at 7:39 pm | In In Theaters | 3 CommentsI may very well be the only person that liked this movie.
Was it cute and very rent-able/Sunday afternoon on Comedy Central? Yes, of course. That’s not why I liked it.
Super Heroes. I love a good super hero. This one comes with Uma Thurman as G-Girl. What does G stand for? I don’t care. Should I? She’s a freaking super hero that saves people all the time.
Now, the reason why I really liked this movie was how the powers worked. Sure they came from space, but not only did it create a super hero, it made her crazy. At least that’s how I’m viewing it. With blond hair Uma is nuts. Though the film ended I believe that the little blond/redhead super hero will eventually be just as nuts as G-Girl.
Plus it is really about strong, dependent women and the men they choose to date. At least that’s what I want it to be about. G-Girl a freaking super hero starts dating average man. Average man is not that into her (WTF–hello super hero) and breaks up. Since average man was stupid he has to suffer. Throw a shark at him!
The super villian is just a guy who loves G-Girl, but she ignores him. So he has to do super villian things to get her attention. It makes sense to me. Sure it’s hokey and kind of dumb, but it is a movie. Can you honestly say Little Man or You, Me and Dupree is any better?

[...] Any other news? Well someone linked to my review of My Super Ex-Girlfriend. I think I enjoyed it because it could be taking in any number of ways, the dark feel bad for the super hero and the holy crap she’s totally nuts and it’s funny. That and I really like bad movies. [...]
