Superman Returns
June 28, 2006 at 10:54 pm | In In Theaters | 3 CommentsSuperman Returns is quite possibly the best Superman movie ever. I mean that. Seriously Superman IV was a waste of money. Superman III was weird. Superman II and Superman: the movie are classics–which the new film pays serious homage to and builds upon.
Brandon Routh is Superman. Seriously he looks just like Superman and has the same mannerisms and everything. Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane was okay. Nothing great, she played it–I didn’t believe the smoking one bit, but that’s okay. Kevin Spacey did a fantastic job as Lex. He was brilliant.
Parker Posey, oh Parker. Can you play anything but yourself? Maybe it isn’t the acting that bothers me so, maybe it’s just the walk. I hate your walk. Change it. Let’s just say that you were no Teschmacher. Bonus Kal Penn. I imagine the negotiations for the part went a little something like this:
Kal: Superman movie–kickin.
Big Hollywood Types: Yes, now you won’t be speaking.
Kal: Oookay, but I want lots of face time and to beat up Superman.
Big Hollywood Types: We can do that.
Okay during the climatic end of the film I couldn’t help but think: Jesus Richard use your eyebeams to help out. I also think this movie is why Cyclops got killed so early in X:3. Shit…work on crappy X-Men movie or go work on Superman? Hmmm….kill me in X:3 I got to go hang with the cool kids.
Anyway this film rocks and is well worth the time & money.

Kate Bosworth played Superman’s girlfriend in Remember the Titans. You would think she would be well practiced.
