Over the Hedge

Saw Over the Hedge on Saturday.  I found it to be delightful.  Steve Carrel as Hammy was fantastic.  I could related to Hammy, but only after ingesting 6 or 7 times the normal amount of caffeine in my diet.

Overall the commentary on suburban life was average.  It just played off well in the animated form.  It's always funny to see animated people be assholes.  Perhaps I just have an abundance of distaste for the suburbs.  I didn't grow up in the 'burbs, but rather a small town.  Driving through the 'burbs freaks me out.  Visiting friends who live in the 'burbs is even stranger as half the time I can't find their house–they look the same.  I usually look for their cars.  Let's bulldoze nature and build another subdivision where the houses all look the same and the coffee is weak.  Woot.

It is a cute movie and will most definitely be highly quoted this summer.  My favorite: Oh, my jazz dance injury.  Bonus: there will be loads of kids getting into Ben Folds thanks to their wonderful soundtrack.
